On Tuesday, 1st April, the Middle Learning Community had the privilege of receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, an important milestone in their spiritual journey. Two services were held at 11:30am and 6pm in the church, involving 112 learners.
Well done to Melissa Evgeniadis, Deputy Principal and Religious Education Leader, who prepared a spiritual service for the students to reflect, seek forgiveness, and grow in their faith. Learners were prepared for the sacrament by their home group teachers – Leanne Stafford, Katharine Ware, Christy Mak, Laura Ryan-Grant, Hayley Knight, and Anna O’Connell, with additional support from Learning Support Officers Lee-Anne Edwards, Myla Mallillin, Katerina Mandusic, and Chris Johnson. A huge congratulations to all involved.
The children were guided through the sacrament with compassion and care as they confessed their sins to Parish Priest Fr. Jude Pirotta, Assistant Priest Fr. John Taliana, and visiting priests Fr. John Healy, Rev. An Hoang Le, and Fr. James Baptist. All priests noted how well-prepared the learners were, highlighting their maturity and reverence during the sacrament. It was a deeply reflective experience for all involved, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth.
For anyone wishing to participate in the First Rite of Reconciliation, a special opportunity will be held on Thursday, 10th April, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church.
"The children demonstrated a deep sense of reverence and understanding as they received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was inspiring to witness their openness and maturity throughout the experience. I am incredibly proud of how well they embraced this important moment in their faith journey."
I felt very confident to tell my sins to the priest because I knew he wouldn't tell anyone.
I confessed my sin to fix my mistakes. It felt great knowing God has forgiven me.
During the Sacrament of Reconciliation, I felt really calm because I was speaking to someone I trust
I was actually really scared and nervous to tell the priest my sins but after I spoke to Fr Jude, I felt really refreshed.
